God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.

Worshipping our good God and loving LORD together-what a great way to start off a new year!
Before our praise time together, teachers took a moment to remind their classes as we begin the year to enter and exit chapel quietly and respectfully. We want them to know that this time is set apart and special, that worshipping in God’s presence is a holy and awesome event.
Chapel band led us in singing our theme song O Love That Will Not Let Me Go (read more about that song here). They closed us out by singing Mediator, which I noticed the students were singing along with loudly.
After years of continual conflicts with his Seminary schedule, Twin Oaks Church student ministry director and Twin Oaks School father David Barnes was finally available to speak! It was a treat to hear him share with the students.
He started off by playing a game of Guess Who. “Who has the power to…” and the students would guess. He then wonderfully led this into a discussion of the power that Jesus has, and how Jesus humbly gave up this power to come to earth as a baby. Then he reminded us that Christ still has that power today, and he has shared that power with us! We have power to love others, to praise God, to Live the Story!
1) What is the best way to enter and exit chapel?
[Quietly, respectful thinking about the God we are about to worship, and as leaving reflecting intentionally about the LORD that we just praised and learning about]
2) Why is this the best way to enter and exit?
[Because Satan wants us to be distracted, to not enjoy worship, to not think about Jesus, to not be close to Christ. He will distract us with noises, with friends, with boredom; we need to fight against these!]
3) What did Mr. Barnes talk about today? What was the main point of his message?
4) What were some of the people Mr. Barnes used in playing Guess Who?
[Spider-Man, Captain America, teachers, Dr. Schall, the police, parents, Jesus]
5) Who has the most power out of everyone in the universe?
6) Why did Jesus give up that power?
[To be a human, one of us, because he loved us and wanted to experience our lives and die to save us from sin]
7) Who has the power to love others, to worship the LORD, to Live the Story of his grace to us?
8) How will you use this power to Go! Live the Story! ?
May the joy of the LORD be our strength.
